We could call her the latest little white girl with the big voice, conjuring up images of the Christina's and Joss Stone's of current pop culture. Yet, with McClain Sullivan, a singer/songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York, we'll leave the comparisons to those who can't taste the obvious individuality Ms. Sullivan is serving. Similarities can be flattering, but don't begin to serve her the justice she rightly deserves as a bona fide super talent, about to shake the musical community to the bone. Her unique, raw vocals and gifted song writing ability come as naturally to this Seattle native, as her charming personality, and powerful stage presence.

Our 4th pass out of Abancay, Peru 13,120 ft. Yeah, we don't skate down hairpins we skate up them.

In 2008, Paul Kent and Aaron Enevoldsen from Calgary, Canada decide to chase Adam Colton through the heart of South America…..on skateboards. This route could very well be capped as the hardest paved bicycle-touring route the world. The terrains obstacles of the Alto Plano are the high altitude, averaging at 10,800ft and higher, (very little oxygen). The Alto Plano is a channel of farmland through the Andes where the ancient Incan Empire was established. At this altitude, very little grows naturally except cactus grass and the options for food are scarce.

Paul Kent is a new world record holder, Adam Colton is a world famous longboarder, and Aaron Enevoldsen of the three, an extreme sports junky, writes about this insane journey as the tale unfolds. (Click on image to enlarge gallery)

Are you guys as drunk as I am?!”
Yells and raised beer cans are the response to Jared Watson, vocalist of The Dirty Heads at Kefi in Wilmington, NC. He grins and shakes his long, shaggy brown hair back under his black beanie. He and his band set up for an acoustic set and immediately slip into a hip-hoppy, really happy reggae tune that everyone in the bar seems to know.
Jared steps to the edge of the stage and his ragged voice is almost drowned out by the crowd screaming the lyrics back in his face. Jared takes a break from singing to yell, “You guys are the shit!” Everyone is stoked.

As each new generation comes of age, their lives and the surrounding components within, progress faster and faster. Take your parents—they didn’t grow up with cell phones and computers. In today’s world, it seems once you hit a certain age, you will get and have to use those things, kind of like being legal to drive when you turn 16. The ages are getting younger and younger... and the same thing applies to sports, especially if you take up the same sport as your parents. As each generation matures at a younger age, kids feed off of their parents and peers and use their youthfulness and agility to grow into their sports, pushing it to new levels.

Some of us are just gifted.

Now by “us”, I don’t mean you and me. Not that we aren’t an alright sort, but we fall upon the more normal end of the “us” spectrum. I mean the “us” in the manner of the “royal we,” a space reserved for those whose skating hovers on the other end of the chain. Skaters like Guy, Daewon, Marc Johnson, Haslam, Koston and P-Rod. There are only a few of our “gifted” brethren whose competition is really only themselves and their last video part.

We did say Danny Way.

You know, the Mega Ramp, DC, Plan B, skateboard's living legend. It's how he makes his living, but at the same time, you can tell that if money wasn't involved, it wouldn't change a thing for him. He's sort of unbreakable. After rounds and rounds of surgeries, he's always ready to roll down the Mega Ramp. And in between the craze of a hectic life, he can still sit down to chat it up.

When we first start skating we internalize its joys and what it means to us. For some it’s simply an activity that brings us closer to our friends, for others it’s a release from the world around them. In the case of Gershon Mosley, it was the latter. Like a young Proteus he found the glowing ember of possibilities in skateboarding and fanned the flames until they filled up his heart.
